I needed a quick bite after visiting someone at the hospital and got a junior burrito bowl. I loved it because it wasn't super greasy and heavy like a chipotle bowl is. The staff was super welcoming and fast to make my food! I'll be going there again whenever I'm around CDH!

This is a wonderful place to pick-up some unique and delicious food! The dad is literally cooking it up and it is SO fresh and homemade!! Also Joe, who rang me up was incredibly friendly and gave me a lot of information about what they have to offer...which I think included vegan and vegetarian options. Again though, the food is absolutely amazing!! And definitely treat yourself and save room for dessert!! I had a mocha latte tres leche slice of cake...it was the best!! This restaurant is right near the hospital...walkable, so again a great alternative to cafeteria food!!

Birria burrito no onion Large koRn Steak quesadilla platter Dreamsickle tres leches This comes with a ton of different sauces and I don't know why or what they are but it's fun to try them and several of them are very good (I liked orange). This tres leches was ridiculously excellent. Apparently they have rotating flavors so this is going to be the star of this restaurant for me and pretty much the whole point of going here. They don't have horchata yet but apparently they're putting in the machine. The quesadilla was pretty boring and the steak was fine but it really wasn't worth the $2.50 up charge. Probably my fault for picking the most boring thing on the menu, I guess. The corn was pretty good - a goopy and buttery mess. The burrito is unbelievably huge and I was told it was good so maybe I'll try that next time.

I have mostly stopped eating out a lot over the last year because of processed foods, high sodium and kidney stones. It hasn't been so much fun. But an empty refrigerator at home and a complete lack of imagination this morning forced a lunchtime adventure. I just got back to the office after forcing myself to try something new, and boy oh boy, what a find. Nestled hidden off of the downtown Winfield train stop in what used to be Gnarly Knots (amazing, but oh, the salt) is La Birria Loca. I'm always up for non-processed authentic Mexican of any kind, so this was something that had been on my short list for a while. On entering just after noon, I was greeted by the owner, Joe, who was happier to see me than my wife usually is. He explained the menu, their specialties, and how everything is prepared. The smells were making me not pay attention to his sales pitch, though, my ADHD was getting the best of me. I ordered TWO quesatacos, which turned out to be large bright orange soft shelled corn tortillas stuffed with cheese (oh dear) and slow-cooked beef birria. In the bag was dipping "au jus" for lack of a better name, limes, onions, cilantro and three unusual hot sauces carefeully rated 4/10, 7/10 and 13.5/10 heat ranges. Holy hell, 13.5 is exactly that. Should not have gone there. I couldn't wait to eat, and having torn everything open on the front seat of my car, I jumped into the middle with #4 and the gravy dip. Oh. My. Gawd. These were without a doubt, the most delicious "tacos" I have ever eaten. I don't think it's even close. They aren't a traditional taco like from the back of a street vendor, but the whole presentation, flavor, tenderness and and everything was incredible. If there were more stars to give, I would. Joe and Pop, keep up the good work. I can't wait to come back. The food was just simply the best.

How did I just notice I've never left a review for La Birria Loca?!? Shame on me!!! Also shame on me that I just went to town and ate my food before getting pictures. I'll add some next time! Anyway - you ever wonder what it feels like when Jesus comes down and blesses you? Eat at La Birria Loca. My goodness their food hits EVERY TIME!!! I lived in the city for over 10 years before coming back to the burbs. Chicago has some of the best Mexican food, but La Birria Loca beats most of them out. No doubt about it that their consume is the absolute best. The meat quality is just unmatched. You won't find better quality steak, beef, or chicken. I'd put money on that statement. My husband and I have had their tacos, Baja tacos, Birria ramen, super beef burritos and finally today tried the Quesabirria. I won't lie, it hits my soul a little when I click the order button because their prices are a lot higher than most Mexican restaurants, BUT the second you take a bite, all is forgotten. They have a high quality product. The Quesabirria was hands down my favorite thus far with the Birria ramen close behind. Their Baja tacos are also some of the best tacos. My only suggestion to this place would be to consider making the corn tortillas fresh to order. That is the only thing Invicto in Naperville has on this place. If La Birria Loca had the corn tortillas of Invicto, they'd be stealing the entire state of illinois for best Mexican food. Salsas, toppings, meat and cheese quality, consume, etc. La Birria Loca wins. Do yourselves a favor and eat here!! It would be a true disservice if you didn't.

Beautiful owners, delicious food, great owner-created artwork. But the bottom line is the FOOD. What delicious home made birrias. The sauces are so amazing and they are number according to how spicy they are. This is the best birrias we have ever tasted in our lives. Definitely.

We had just finished a cancer awareness walk and wanted to find a casual, local Mexican restaurant. We are from out of town, but we loved talking with the family who owns the place. They gave us a lot of history of the building, talked to them about their band touring days, and enjoyed hearing the passionate stories about their food. We both got the birria chilaquiles (off their secret menu--use their QR code to find their link tree that has their current full menu) and it was DELICIOUS. It's dunked in their level 4 sauce (tangy and mild) with delicious birria meat and pico de gallo. Additionally, DO NOT miss the churro cheesecake! It is everything. Not too sweet, so creamy, still thinking about it hours later. You can only take out. Long complicated building codes prevent them from being a sit down restaurant but there is a cute park behind the building. Just be aware that bathrooms might be locked!

Saw the amazing reviews about this place so my family and I gave it a try! These quesatacos were sooooo good!!! I totally recommend getting the hot sauces that come with it because it adds so much more flavor. Dipping the tacos with the consommé were also really nice. The food also came out really fast and the staff were really kind. I totally recommend getting food from here!!

First time trying birria tacos, and all I can say is it was delicious. You can tell everyone in there cares about the food and service especially since they make everything on site and dont have freezers or microwaves. The consomé and tacos were amazing, the harbanaro salsa was worth it and the corn in a cup made me think it was from straight from the corn man cart. P.s. their taste in music is also badass haha. 100/10
